Dottie
1983 Reg. Thoroughbred  16.3h  mare
sire ~  G.G. Delp  dam~ Pampered Cherry

This amazing mare was and still is my life. I can easily say I was not looking for a horse
like her when I bought her. I think she picked me as much as I picked her. When I bought
her she was older than I wanted, bigger than I wanted, didn't know as much as I was
looking for, cost more money than I had, and most of all I didn't really want a mare again.
However, everything went out the window and I bought her!  Little did I know I WAS
looking for her and she was looking for me.

I can't begin to tell you what she has taught me, I would need an entire website not just a
page to tell you. Our lessons together go far beyond the dressage ring, cross country
course, or any show jumping arena we've ever been in. It goes beyond the barn, and well
into those life lessons that you pull from on a daily basis!  This lovely mare has taught
me more about strength and faith and confidence then anyone ever could. Lazy Dots
attitude towards life is inspiring. She has never met a person (or a horse)she did not like.

In 1997 Lazy Dot taught me about strength and determination. She broke her hock at the
first jump cross country at Pine Top HT in Ga.  Lazy Dot healed in record time and within
3 months was back hand walking. By October of the same year she competed in her 3rd
3 star event of her carer. Lazy Dot loved to compete. She gave me as much as I would
ask for.

Lazy Dot taught me about reading a horses mind. How to ask for more but not take to
much. That never became more clear than at Badminton in 1999. (I'll make this brief) the
weather was terrible!  The rain was so incredible that the cross country course was
mostly a sea of mud. Lazy Dot was number 79 so the mud was thick. On roads and
tracks she trotted down roads that became a creek bed. Steeplechase was so deep that
most horses pulled up, and stewards came out to warn us to be careful. The vet box was
so quiet from horses not getting around,  it gave you a funny feeling in your belly.  I
wanted to run but I didn't want to hurt Dottie.  We had worked so hard to be there and we
were in 12 place out of 91. So I decided we'd give our best. Dottie and I made it around
safely! We had a lot of time but that's when I learned about asking but taking to much. I
gave up my placing but having time faults in what was atrocious  footing to get my horse
home safely. She gave me back a feeling of joy to get around safely and a gorgeous
hunter round clean and no time show jumping because I didn't ask for to much the day
before!

Lazy Dot's list of wins and accomplishments are many. To many to list so I will give you
some of her highlights.
1999 Badminton 4 star long format 22nd

1998 Rolex 4 star long format 10th

1998 Fair Hill 3 star long format 4th

Lazy Dot had a ton of wins at all levels. When she retired she had competed in 9 three
day events at the 2, 3, and 4 star level. All were long format and all but 3- three days she
had to carry up words of 45 lbs of lead for weight requirements.
